Zone RV's sudden entry into voluntary administration has resulted in customers potentially losing deposits and installment payments amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Reports indicate that some customers had paid substantial sums, with one couple reportedly transferring a final payment of $40,000 just hours before the company's closure. Additionally, suppliers are confronting significant financial setbacks, and over 200 employees have been left unemployed.
Recognising the distress caused by these events, Kokoda Caravans has launched a multi-faceted support program. Central to this initiative is the offer of up to $20,000 in credit towards the purchase of new Kokoda models such as the 'Peregrine', 'Sojourn', or 'Summit'. Kokoda's production team is equipped to replicate many layouts and features that Zone RV customers had originally ordered, providing a semblance of continuity for affected buyers.
Beyond product offerings, Kokoda has established a Community Support Fund, initiating it with a $20,000 contribution. This fund is accessible to affected Zone RV customers without the obligation to purchase a Kokoda caravan. To bolster this fund, Kokoda commits to adding an additional $3,000 for every eligible caravan sold under this initiative. The company also invites public contributions to further support those impacted.
Kokoda's proactive approach underscores a commitment to community and industry solidarity during challenging times. By offering both financial assistance and product alternatives, Kokoda aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by Zone RV's customers and suppliers. This initiative not only provides immediate relief but also reinforces the importance of support and resilience within the Australian caravan industry.
